| 10% makeup 90% connection

You might think that coming to a makeup workshop will afford you the knowledge to apply your makeup with skill and confidence…

…it will but even more so is the community vibe you will walk out the door with, a feeling of being uplifted, empowered. I have a background in HR and a psychology degree I trained as a Makeup Artist as my creative out let. I had always been told I was ‘too brainy’ for a creative job so had followed a pathway that I don’t believe was really mine. In reality I think taking a creative career pathway is so much more risky than a profession like teaching or medicine but not more risky than finding yourself in a career you don’t love.

My main mission in anything I do is make people feel uplifted, confident and capable. Having this venue for me is an opportunity to connect the community. I want to hold events that bring people together. We are very young but I can see Heart Centred is going to be a success, the few events we had had have provided true connection. “Most of all I want to bring women together. I know what it feels like to be the mum at home who’s lost a bit of herself, the wife that feels resentment, the woman that has experienced loneliness.” I want to create a space were women can get away from their phones and connect to real life people rather than what we see on instagram. Social comparison is paralysing but social connection is invigorating- and thats coming from an introvert!

My other main aim is to be a good example to my kids. I still have the fear for them that they will struggle if they choose a creative pathway in their careers, especially the girls. I hope they see what I do as helpful to the society that they grew up in. Poppy is my main inspiration for the creative kids calendar. Seeing your child consistently have to work for everything that comes easily to others is hard. I want to inspire her to trust her gut and choose her pathway that makes her heart sing. I also want my kids to know how important it is to lean on others, share knowledge and experience things together.

Sign up to here to hear about our upcoming events… we can’t wait to see you.

I agree that knowledge is power but I feel like it’s community that has your back.
